The New Agriculture New Generation organization and BARBA STATHIS collaborated to design and implement a specialized training program aimed at the company’s partner farmers. The program focused on advancing the farmers’ technical skills through current topics in the agri-food sector.
The training program included a series of practical sessions on regenerative agriculture, the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), and climate change. The sessions took place from February to April 2024 in BARBA STATHIS’s main agricultural areas, including Amyntaio in Florina, Chalki in Larissa, Apollonia in Thessaloniki, Kilkis, and Giannitsa in Pella.
Focusing on the technical skill development of the participating farmers, the training topics included:
- Regenerative agriculture: use of specialized nutrition products, regenerative and organic farming practices.
- Introduction to the rights and eco-schemes model of the New CAP 2023-2027, with an emphasis on “Rural Development Measures,” group farmer contract farming, financial support, and the strategic plan specifically related to the farmers’ crops for BARBA STATHIS.
- Climate change and agriculture: adaptation technologies, strategies to mitigate negative effects, and carbon farming.
Through this partnership with New Agriculture New Generation, BARBA STATHIS made a substantial contribution to the primary sector, delivering knowledge from universities and industry experts to participants across the country. This provided farmers with new motivation to engage productively with Greek agriculture.
