Co-creating sustainable land solutions across Europe with Horizon Europe support
Join us in the LandShift initiative — an EU-funded research project reshaping land-use planning for a climate-resilient future. By blending cutting-edge innovation, local voices, and Nature-Based Solutions, LandShift delivers balanced land use and thriving communities.
What is LandShift?
LandShift is a pioneering EU-funded research project aimed at transforming how land is managed across Europe. Through evidence-based research and regional collaboration, it develops inclusive and efficient land-use strategies that align with the European Green Deal and the New European Bauhaus, helping nature, communities, and regional development flourish together.
Our Role in LandShift
We are proud to be an active partner in LandShift, contributing to the co-creation of Living Spaces — real-world regions across Europe including Greece — where communities, researchers, and policymakers collaborate to design and test sustainable land-use solutions.
Why It Matters
Land isn’t just a resource — it’s the foundation of biodiversity, climate resilience, community wellbeing, and Europe’s sustainable future. But mounting pressures like climate change, soil degradation, and biodiversity loss put this precious resource at risk. Traditional land-use management needs bold innovation.
LandShift addresses this by deploying advanced tools — from Earth Observation and AI to Data Cubes and multi-criteria analysis — to monitor, predict, and support smarter land-use decisions. These technology-powered, nature-based strategies help restore ecosystems, promote food security, and ensure balanced regional development.
How It Works
- Data-driven tools like AI, Earth Observation, and Data Cubes empower regional authorities and stakeholders with actionable insights.
- Nature-Based Solutions tailored to each Living Space support biodiversity, sustainable biomass, and community wellbeing.
- Inclusive, community-led development ensures that solutions are practical, location-specific, and scalable across Europe.
Living Spaces at Work
In diverse settings—ranging from rural farms to forests in regions across France, Italy, Poland, Ukraine, and here in Greece — LandShift’s Living Spaces serve as dynamic testbeds for co-created, sustainable land-use strategies.
A Shared Vision for the Future
At its core, LandShift transforms land into more than a resource—it becomes the foundation of productive, beautiful, diverse, and resilient landscapes. Guided by New European Bauhaus principles, the project delivers replicable models and decision support frameworks that empower policymakers and regions across Europe.
