Upskilling of Olive Growers
Summary
The “Open Olive Academy – Messinia” program aims to transfer knowledge and expertise to olive growers in the Regional Unit of Messinia. It is based on the creation of a comprehensive, coherent, and at the same time intensive training seminar cycle focused on the olive and olive oil sector, which also includes experiential training.
The program is co-funded by the organization “New Agriculture New Generation,” through the founding donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), by the Captain Vassilis and Carmen Constantakopoulos Foundation, is supported by Bayer, BASF, and PJ Condelis SA, and is implemented in collaboration with the Union of Messinia.
The seminars cover the entire chain of olive cultivation production.
Program Objective
The adoption of modern olive cultivation practices by the olive growers of Messinia in order to improve their production processes and strengthen their competitiveness and outward orientation.
Target Audience:
The program is addressed to olive growers, either full-time or part-time, who are active in the Regional Unit of Messinia. In addition, professionals from the entire olive and olive oil value chain—such as olive mill owners, processors, and traders—may also participate in the seminars.
Trainers:
The seminars will be delivered by specialized staff and scientific experts from the “New Agriculture New Generation” organization, as well as external partners, such as market professionals and consultants with recognized expertise in production, standardization, packaging, and marketing, along with academics and university professors.
Program Duration:
The program consists of 54 training hours and includes six (6) two-day sessions, delivered in person in Kalamata.
