The 5th Educational Session of the Agrifood Leadership 2025–2026 program in Patras

The 5th educational session of the Agrifood Leadership 2025–2026 program was successfully completed, taking place in Patras from Friday, March 27 to Sunday, March 29, 2026, under the thematic area “Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Policy”.

The session was led by Stathis Klonaris, Professor at the Agricultural University of Athens, who guided participants through an in-depth understanding of the fundamental principles of agricultural economics and the contemporary policies shaping the sector.

The Agrifood Leadership 2025–2026 program is implemented by the organization New Agriculture New Generation and operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food. The technical and strategic advisor of the program is Rutgers University USA. The sponsor of the educational session was COMPO EXPERT.

The program was created through the founding grant of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation SNF.

Deepening Knowledge in Agricultural Economics and the CAP

During the educational session, participants had the opportunity to explore the structure of agricultural economics in Greece and Europe, as well as to analyze the key principles and perspectives of the Common Agricultural Policy CAP for the period 2023–2027.

Particular emphasis was placed on the role of the European Union in shaping agricultural strategy, as well as on the challenges and opportunities emerging for the future of the agricultural sector.

Connecting with International Markets and Exports

A highlight of the session was the presentation titled Cultural Barriers in Export Trade by Konstantinos Oraiopoulos, General Manager Greece and Balkans at COMPO EXPERT.

The presentation highlighted cultural differences that affect international trade relations, along with practical adaptation strategies for effective entry into new markets, strengthening the export potential of businesses.

Educational Visit to the Industry

As part of the session, an educational visit was held at the COMPO EXPERT factory in Patras, offering participants a comprehensive view of the production process in the fertilizer industry.

The tour was conducted by Panagiotis Rigopoulos, General Manager of the factory, who presented the key stages of production, as well as quality assurance, storage, and product distribution processes.
